Bar, he was Austrian so these are likely to be his awards, sadly his service records are not at NARA or in the Austrian Military Archives. He Transfered with his Austrian Unit Inf. Rgt. Franz Josepf No. 1 and part of a Kraftfahr truppe to become Schutzen RGt. 12 and then he was retired in August 1939.
The dagger was worn for undress etc. Tim and Neil have a chart in their book and I think there is one in Angolia as well.
I should add that the person who did the hand sewing etc. also mentioned he would be happy to do additional work restoring tunics for people who are interested, I have known him for 25 years. He collects WWI Allied so it is safe to leave him around German items
Thanks, nice job of padding the tunic, it looks like the form. Aside from my PK drawings and paintings I do not have anything on display, it is all out of sight and out of (UV) light.
