Picked up a few pieces over the last few months.

This is an odd piece, Luft eagle on green wool. Looks like the eagle is dyed, or the green wool bleed into the eagle. Any thoughts? Luft. forestry?

        Best,
        Howard

Would the black one be from a Panzer Grenadier uniform? Nice ones!

front of black M43 pz cap with blood patina

This black M43 cap front is from a deceased member of Panzer Rgt 100 in Normandy and was cut off circa 15 June, 1944. Sgt Harry Plisevich of H Co. 501 PIR, 101st Airborne, was dug-in facing south, near the la Fourchette road junction, south of Carentan, when he cut this cap insignia off, near the junction of the road to Periers and the road to Baupte. He told
me he had to walk past this deceased soldier each day and each day the dead man's whiskers seemed to grow longer. I have since read that this is caused by the dead skin shrinking, causing whiskers to stick out farther, rather than a continued growth of the beard. Anyhow, this is one of my favorite cut offs that is not from the Waffen SS. Pz Rgt 100 was a training unit, that happened to be stationed in Normandy when D-day happened. They were equipped with small, captured French Renault and Hotchkiss tanks, which American GIs called "Tank-ettes."

Fantastic piece Mark, most likely from a M-42 conversion which often had hand sewn, two piece insignia. Also like the Normandie connection.

Friend found a Japanese booklet with a lot of papers in it.
This helmet star was folded inside and nobody knew about it.

                              It came from Iwo Jima.
Lots of vets around home had bits like this when I was a kid-most long vanished.
