                    Makes me SICK seeing visor hats cut offs. Why cut off 20% of a hat, why not keep the hole thing togehter. STUPID.

                      Because there was a war going on and these were just souvenirs to soldiers. Just the captured junk of a enemy nation.

                          Indeed.

                          You can tell most cut items are rough cut, likely to have been a bayonet or field knife. Once cut they placed it in their musette bag and carried on. No room for a complete uniform or cap.

                            I agree with Willi

                            Grunts (Infantry) had to hump (carry) everything on their backs. A lot less weight keeping just the cut-off insignia rather than the entire uniform or hat.
