Cut insignia still attached to uniforms..

See if the material is synthetic, otherwise it is close to the examples of the Dutch materials. No one knows everything they did. A zig stitch through the lining certainly would be possible. Most the "cut offs" are junk but certainly some are real.

Johnny, after seeing your detailed photos depicting the mysterious reinforcing stitching peculiar to Dutch combat tunics, along with the bluish hued Dutch wool I am convinced that the Heer eagle is a genuine piece (IMO, for whatever it is worth). I admit some of the eagles were not sewn through the lining, I have seen them factory hand applied as well. Thanks for providing these images.

I agree with you, making sure the bunting is not polyester would confirm that. No worries, every day is a learning day. Sadly I suspect they cut up Dutch tunics as well like everything else that is damaged and mothed they can find.

Almost all of the SS cut insignia I see at shows are bogus. I have generally found the Luft pieces to be relatively safe, though I have not encountered the ones from the east. I did learn yesterday about one dealer from Europe who comes over to the Max and SOS who fakes the stuff himself; and rather convincingly at that.

Mind sharing the name, Willi, so that I can remember to avoid him!

Another subdued Heer eagle on twill....from a vet...and notice, the eagle was apparently period replaced, or moved??
