In my opinion, they are too poorly done to be fakes INTENDED TO DECEIVE. These would only pass as the story suggests - as field made replacements, using what was available. The point that was made earlier about "buy them because YOU believe them, not to re-sell them" is the gospel truth.
If you are going to sell them (as Christoper is) then finding a price they will sell at is a challenge. The e-stand is in a recession right now anyway, so I wouldn't expect them to sell for a while no matter what the price.
Good luck to all parties, and Merry Christmas!

Mike, I mean this in a friendly manner but IMO The "too poorly done to be fakes INTENDED TO DECEIVE." will get you in a lot of trouble.
Not speaking of these boards but there are a lot of people who have made a lot of money making crappy "field-made" items depending on the above collector philosophy to peddle their wares.
These are much easier to make then things that look like issue pieces as are other "field made" items.
I am sure many of these fieldmade items are WWII, but for me, I would rather have something that I know is real by construction or by seamless origin etc.
I also do not think the Estand is in a recession, it is Christmas and most the items listed lately are of the charts as far a prices for what is being sold. there has been a lot of garbage on there lately (not your stuff of course ).

Gary, can you please look at the eagle on the Chaplain thread, I have never seen one sewn to two backing like that.

I might be better off quoting Rodney Dangerfield: "Tough Crowd". "Take my wife, please".
The strans of thread comprising the piping appear to be VERY thin, long and interwoven. Not the thick, "corkscrew" type junk from the 80's.
Any takers on the "burn test"? I'd be willing to do it as a point of honor.
And, most importantly, YES John H. Amen Brother!

Christopher
you cannot go off the photo posted by Glenn for size as both are taken at different resolutions,
the fake german piping just like period piping was not limited to one size only some was thicker than others,
below i have overlaid the piping on the fake ss strap on top of your piping

HI Gary,
I haven't gone off anyone's photo. Just posted more pix.
That's what we in law call "'potentially' damning evidence". Your photo suggests that the piping is the same size, etc. I think the only FAIR test is to your post is a genuine side by side shot, for exact scale and an EXACT comparison. That way nobody can claim that the photos were manipulated in any way.
Let's see how the camera interprets the same shot. I'll send one board to to you or you may send one to me? I ask for this leniency because your comparison does not appear to work with any other photo of my boards' piping.
WE can agree that this outcome will be dispositive. Fair enough?
