Andy, another thing is the buttonhole ribbons. I learned that the early ones (as those that would haven been worn in 1940) are narrower than the later ones. Look at the pictures. First picture shows the ONLY ribbons I want to display on my 1940 tunics, apart from two longer ones that are in storage right now. On my EM tunics I only want to see a flower war ribbon bar or a narrow EK2 Band. Third picture shows the difference. Second picture proves that this was also the case for the War Effort cross (Kriegsverdienstkreuz).[/QUOTE]

A couple of very informative posts. Do you know the width of the narrower earlier EK ribbons compared to the later war ribbons? This will be valuable information to share. The ribbon on the tunic above is 3cm.
