AH Standarte types ???

was embroidered on one side, making it an
"Opera Banner" type AH position standarte.

I think the one OFW posted and the one at the Moscow museum were for the same purpose.Probably the only two known to exist.18k was quite a bargin.I do not like the printed versions of the AH standartes they look cheap but are expen$ive. Heres mine it's a painting (I hope thats OK)Attached FilesLast edited by DR DOLCH; 03-11-2014, 08:42 PM.

OFW,
Thanks for the detail picture, it looks quite impresive and it must have been heavy by the look and quality of the material used. This particular flag must have been a quite expensive one to produce but probably because it's intended use was as a formal gala Opera house banner and one sided, no expense was spared to make the flag opulent and not to get lost in all the beautiful and guilded architecture of the old european hopera houses.
Once more, thank you for sharing the great images and information on perhaps one of the truly rare and quite unique TR flags.

To add additional visual reference about these particular flags/banners/standartes.

Hi cjclick.
Some observations I've made, and quoted directly from your posts on this thread:
"I figured I'd get a couple of basement experts here on this one. In case you missed the original topic, this is an original standard in a museum. I'll post more pics for doubting purposes."
"So since you've proved one museum fake, you must be correct on them all. I love those who preach to not believe in everything you hear or see, unless you are the one showing or saying it. The Mona Lisa has been fakes as well, and it had fooled "experts". Keep that in mind also."
And concerning a pair of large (common) party banners on a different thread:
"Let me know if any of you have seen ones this large on the market, an maybe a price that they had on them."
It seems to me that you have a lot less experience with flags and banners than most of the members on this forum. I tend to observe and learn from their postings more often than offering opinion as my knowledge pales in comparison to theirs. But I do have an opinion about this: Your snarky responses are not endearing you to anybody. (Your comment questioning the honorability of the poster BobI simply because his location is listed as Mexico was reprehensible). If you have been misinformed about the origins and originality of a piece, then chalk it up to a learning experience when you are corrected. Don't stick your fingers in you ears and say "I can't hear you!" just because you don't like the responses that you are receiving.
Simply because you personally haven't seen an item does not mean that it does not exist, and not all museum pieces are genuine. You can not afford to be this naive. As a point of disclosure, I also own a Standard like the one posted at the beginning of this thread. Mine was the only example from this maker that I had seen when I bought it, but I knew it was age-appropriate to other period pieces that I had handled. Since then, BobI's example is the third one I have observed. Nobody knows with 100% certainty what is out there; but it makes sense to learn what you can from those with more experience. IMO, the museum piece you posted is not genuine for the reasons already stated by more experienced collectors than me.

Hi Bob, thanks for creating an interesting thread on a subject I know zip about. Is it possible that the printed flag was meant to be the muster sewn over with bouillon, sorry for my bad English, hope you understand what I mean? Or just a Führerbanner for daily use?

Ps: in my 11 years working at the Danish National Museum and Military Museum I rarely met Curators that possessed the knowledge to authenticate an historic Item. At one exhibition my curator colleague had managed to choose almost entirely fake items which gave me great pleasure to reveilto him as he had been mocking me because I was a collector

Hi Thomas!
No, this one was never intended to have bullion over it. I am guessing every town or city had one for when Adolf rolled around. The smaller ones do pop up on occasion but the large ones you almost never see. I have heard of one other and then there was another one shown on the WAF.
When it comes to flags, whatever OFW says is gospel!
Thanks guys, for the most part this was a fun and informative thread!
Best Wishes,
Bob

Thomas Wittman also had a huge AH printed flag for sale a couple of years ago.
BobI example is in my very personal opinion and taste a very desiderable example of the printed versions of these flags and taking in consideration the size, the price is good (again my very personal opinion) and even the wear and small rips adds to the character of the piece....I wish had the money for it!!!
