I agree. The fact that it is really two flags (or flag fronts) sewn back-to-back is very interesting and the only one of the three that I have observed with this type of construction: Mine is the usual printed reverse image on the opposite side, as is the example on display at the CFB Museum in New Brunswick. Bob, is there any way to tell by looking through the separations whether or not there is a printed reverse on either side? (Two for the price of one!)

I like the crispness of detail on these flags compared to the versions that are more common in smaller sizes; i.e. eagles and wreath outlined in black rather than gold-brown. I hope more examples from this maker come to light in the future.

There was a huge (estimated 16x16'+ Italian made (POLA FIB) version at SOS. It was not quite priced although the owner estimated 7-9k.

Hitler made a 7 day visit to Italy in 1938. Here's a site with some photos that show a lot of Nazi and Fascist flags. http://www.vintag.es/2012/12/hitlers...y-in-1938.html Unfortunately, none show the Fuerher standard.

He joined Mussolini and others to observe navy exercises and was abord the Italian battleship Conte di Cavour. It's conceivable that the large flag at the SOS was flown from the ship on this occasion.

As for the fake in the museum, it's possible they obtained it to add to their display. It is also possible that it was replaced by an enterprising curator to either protect the rare original or for other reasons.

When I lived in Germany I knew the American curator of a US divisional museum who routinely replaced donated original items with reproductions. His intentions were not honorable. In fact, he boasted about the great stuff he got. His rationale was that nobody would know or appreciate the difference anyway.

Maybe the biggest AH standard was the one for the annual Party Days. Its size was 8.0 x 8.0 mtr and did weigh 150 kg. Practically all was hand-embroidered. The standard was water- and wheather-proof. Where is that one gone?
Four ladies did the stitching for the so-called Operahaus-form.

Actually a mega-LAH standand, and not an AH standard.

Addition to post 63: Consult the War Relics Forum for an article about flags and standards in the thread: The "Rosetta Stone" for visors and more to show.

The standard from post 67 was for the Reichsparteitag 1935 meant, had a size of 8.0 x 8.0 mtr and did weight 150 kg (drei Zentner). The standard was hand-embroidered for the most parts and was color and wheather-resistant. An article about this was published in the DAF-magazine, "die Bekleidungsarbeit".

Indeed a nice one. Even an eagles nose
from that one would be quite a prize, as
per the Magic Christain collecting criteria.

There even a closer look of this Nuremberg flag, its the one showing Hitler leaving the building and putting on a black cape, I have that photo in my computer files somewhere...just have to find it and will post it.

I REALLY, REALLY would love to buy the flag BOBI is selling on behalf of the museum, wish I could afford it, I know for sure is one of those items that will be extreamly difficult to find...and afford in a couple of years down the road...and I will say to myself. ..Why, why did you not got it!!!...well, next Friday is Lotto jackpot night again over here, maybe I will be lucky with the numbers...if I am...BOBI...wait for ny cal and order for this superb historical item!!!
