Ed, thanks for again posting photos of your I/17 flag, and
for correcting my memory. Signals 14 (not 10) was the one
shown in the book being held by the visor hat uniformed guy.
At one time I had an example from each SS regiment number
      decade: i.e., I/5, II/72, and I/107, and signals battalion #4.

Around 1970 I had an ad to buy war souvenirs on a 3"x5" card posted on one of those bulletin boards when you walk in-out of a grocery store,- got a veteran's call for a German flag, it was one of these SS-Sturmbannfahne, it had the corner patch "III/82". At the time I looked it up & have in my ancient notes "3d Battalion of the 82d SS Foot regiment", which I hope was correct. I had pictures of it, & can't find them, I can't find the negatives either, which is bugging me. I sold it in 1986 for $2600. Years later, I saw it pictured for sale in one of 'The Collector's Guild' catalogs, I thought I had kept that catalog but it's gone. I wonder who has that flag now??

          SS battalion flag list ???

          Silesien:
If it had the black and silver fringe and the corner patch was
machine chain stitched embroidered with "III/82" in silver
color wire thread, then it was indeed an SS Sturmbannfahne.
Have not seen that one before, but it seems like it is time to
start a SS battalion flag list as I've done on the WAF DDR forum
with surviving SED Kampfgruppen unit flags. So here goes...
          ---------------------------------------------------------------
          1. I/5, 1st pattern, formerly *OFW via Klenau Munich Auction
          2. Signal Bn 4, 2nd pattern, *=photo confirmed, OFW c.1975

          8. III/59, * believed to be one sold in H-Historica Auction

Would love to see the listed II./SS 2 (later "Germania") flag being only VT unit with one existing that ended up a component of "Das Reich" and later cadre for "Wiking."

Never saw an original, just confirmed with photos some of those VT flags listed by Mollo with only drawings and a few that were not (AA, Pioniersturmbann VT, etc).

Curious if any went to Russia and are buried in a museum there, aside from well known LAH standard

              Hello MCY:
The LAH DE standard is the only SS unit flag known (by me) as having been found by the Soviets.

from the list, are there any threads showing these 2 ?

                17. III/4+Skull (TK-SS), 2nd pattern, *BH on WAF
                18. II/4+Skull (TK-SS), 2nd pattern, *DS on WAF

Have photos of a known right Oberbayern trumpet banner for my "Totenkopf" German Cross volume (covers prewar development as integrated with Division) so would have interest in seeing these. Interesting that both survived from the same Standarte.

                  Mark:
You will have to search the WAF for same, or maybe Bob Hritz will
repost his flag photos again for you here? As for the Dick Swan's TK
flag photos, they were only briefly posted before deleted by same,
so those will have to be reposted by someone who saved them.

Great photo archive in that "Subterranean Vault" of yours.
That photo is a real blast from the past, I recall seeing that same
SS schellenbaum banner for sale for $1K on a Cinncinatti OVMS
show table back in the 1970's , but then missing some fringe. A
bit out of my normal collecting price range even then, so I bought
the SS lanzespitze sturmbannfahne pole top next to it for $100.

                              Fringe

Oh, I can only wonder who restored the Fringe. If you look at the bottom Fringe from left to right you can see how it thins. Restoring it was no doubt a tedious process.

                                Dr.S:
Circa 1975 I paid $1K each for four SS battalion flags, so $1K for a much smaller
damaged SS schellenbaum seemed rather excessive at the time. But I was
impressed enough at the time to shoot on the table photos of the schellenbaum
at that Cincinnati show (see below), it was missing the two bottom tassels then.
In March 2009 Swan did post on the WAF that he bought it much later for $10K
"at one of the MAX shows when they were in Baltimore." The $100 SS pole top I
bought from next to the schellenbaum, was the only example I saw until getting on
the Internet in 1995, since then I've picked up three more of those also rare tops.
