I would pay the price and leave the gun like it is.
If you want to get it ruined all the way, be stupid and take it to 'de proefbank van Luik".
Buy it, be smart (don't play with it on the street) and keep it in your collection.
That's why I don't collect de-activated "weapons" (can we still call it a weapon then?). To me, once they are de-activated, they are ruined and (to me), they are just pieces of metal.
Just my 2 cents,

For any gun to be valued that high with no craftsmanship would be an oxy-moron to the gun world. millions were made, but maybe a few million were destroyed, I am by no means qualified to even guess how many should have survived.

Panthera,
Prices in Belgium are a lot lower than in the rest of Europe.
Never compare prices in other country's, they're always different.
If you can buy a life (full-auto) MP44 for 1000-1500€, 1500€ for a MP40 is overpriced.
Now we have a new firearms-law, take your time and you will find what your looking for .Just post some ads.
You can always contact me if you find a life one and you want it to be deactivated.

FRANK

Thanks Frank,
It is always bad advise to let a perfect historical weapon being destroyed by demilitarisation.
The value is always going to be less for demilitarised fire arm than one that functions normaly.
This is my personal opinion, let this be clear for all!
If you feel more safe with a demilitarised gun DO IT!!!
Cheers,
Peter
