I think 1-2 % are a possible number !
Red:
Depends if you're buying or selling one I guess
I am not sure to do a purchase of this subject ,but i have a one in my eyes on a dealers site.!But i am not sure if this a good investment!?Very good fake inscriptions on genuine blades can the market ruin!

Are you referring to the one on Weitze's site?

Caution is advised!
I have personal experience with a dealer who put in writing that he stamped numbers on an SS full rohm crossguard and used a reproduction blade. Be VERY careful in these daggers.
I never really trusted that the numbers are real, the metal punchs are readily available at the larger shows.

Yes, the authenticity was never a question among the bidders and those who have seen the dagger in person (many have). I still feel it was less than I would expect, but it was definitely within the range of fairness. I can also say that 2nd place bidder was a dealer, so someone thought there was room left.

Looks like many of the items on the auction sold for much less than "retail".
The high leaders dagger was super nice and sold for 41k. Some dealers were asking 50-70k+ not to long ago. OUCH! If I recall the last SS full Rohem Witty sold for around 29k? again OUCH!
IMO proves the market is soft and will continue to be as the older collectors start to sell off their collections. This is great for the true collector like me, bad for the "investor"

I think that $ 40,000 was retail for an SA Honor dagger in an average condition. A friend of mine recently bought an SA Honor dagger in a near mint condition from a well known dealer for $ 50,000 ......................... the dagger on the dealer's web site was listed at $ 70,000.
In other words, don't always believe what you see on the web, they do sell at a lower price, only a fool will pay that kind of money.
Of course, listing the actual selling price is not what the dealer wants to show.
I also do the same with my used car department.

I bid on three nice original items in this auction, but they just kept going. I reached my limit and dropped out. Checked the final prices realised and they were a shade off from retail in this soft market, so fair imho.
However, and without doubt, someone has scored a real bargain with that SA Honour dagger!
