I do have a question. Mine appears to have that silver plating that has flaked off around the handle. How were these finished? Was there some sort of silver plating? Or are these supposed to be made from a silver compound of some type?

The grip plates are tight especially by the hilt, by the quillon does have a slight movement. I can push the rivit in and out a hair. I could be wrong but I was thinking it's from poorer workmanship rather than being played with. Some areas around the rivit ( on the grip plate ) are chipped but doesn't look played with. There are some file marks on the grip plate to fit it. Even if it was post-war played with I got it for a very cheap price, so it's all good.Attached Files
