SS Cloth Peaked Feldmuetze Alter Art

I saw this awesome cap on Peter v Lukacs' website yesterday and decided I just had to have it!

Cloth peaked field caps are ultra rare, I know of maybe only 10 worldwide and to find one that has obviously been heavily worn during the period but not full of holes is remarkable. What's also interesting is that it's an NCO cap upgraded to Officer by way of the added chin cords. The piece of camo fabric inside the cap was no doubt added by the original owner because the pasteboard broke in the front and judging by how much sweat is in the cap, it needed some extra protection. I guess the pasteboard broke because he liked to fold the cap up in true "crusher" style.

Hope you like it as much as I do!

Hi Ben.....well done...and at the end at a very fairly good price
For sure, after a "restoration" as you're able to do, it will become an extraordinary cap......
          All my best

Ben, fantastic score--that cap has truly "been there, done that"--probably thru all 6 years of the war! Congrats my friend....

Don't worry, there will be no restoration of any kind on this cap.

Thank you guys, I guess timing is everything in this hobby and I was lucky to be in the right time and place.

Can you do me a favour please? I'd love to find a period photo of a similar cap being worn. It would be great to have it alongside the cap.
