If the hat is bad, it is not a franky--it is a ground-up fake.
It is not a typical Huesken (as this one is):

      Hi ,

Here the entry of the 1942 RTB telephone directory clearly shows that
P+O ´s business was not the making of caps but rather a "laundry" or
some sort of cleaning service !

      Best regards

      Bernhard

Here's a 2007 WAF link to a bogus FB with the Petzsche & Oelkers name. Wish all the pics had survived the server migration:

        http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=228290

The Hallesches Adreßbuch mit Umgebung 1941 also lists them as a Putzgeschäft. I suspect any of the caps by that maker are bogus. The faker may have gotten a hold of some original laundry tags and put them in the caps.

          Damenputz - caps

          Hi,
"putz" does not mean "cleaning" or "laundry" at all in this context.
It comes from "herausputzen", meaning to dress up nicely.

Damenputz is an old german expression for a hat- and cap maker for women

In 1941, Petzscke & Oelkers is listed as such a "Damenputz" business.

So at least they made caps......

Here a picture of a shop with "Damenputz"

          Regards

Why not "Mutzenfabrik", then? I have never seen a WWII military capmaker use "Putz" in any advertisement or logo.

                Hi Don,

I have not said that they were making military caps.
What I said is that they were not a laundry, not cleaning business but cap-makers for women...most probably sold in their own shop. This rules out your statement in post#18 about laundry tags and shows at least that they were involved in business around this topic.
Also the tag shown in the hats above do not have a relation to women caps.

                Regards

I really have learnt something new in this thread.
Never stumbled across the word Putz in this context before.
                    Very interresting !

Here for your further information a part of the 1942 Yellow Pages about
                    "Putz" and "Damenputz"

                    Best regards

I am bringing this thread back up to see if anyone else has any tunics/hats with this logo.

PS--Marcello, do your sources have anything more on this company?

                        Hallo Chris

I have only this entry in the 1941 Halle adressbuch:

                        http://digital.bibliothek.uni-halle....geview/1690878
                        http://digital.bibliothek.uni-halle....geview/1691112
                        http://digital.bibliothek.uni-halle....geview/1691271

but putzmacherin = milliner. It is therefore strange that they were in the business of military caps, but not impossible (although I personally do not like the headdresses of this thread)

                        Best regards
