        M40 tropical cap makers

        I agree. I was going to put this list online elsewhere soon but you might have as well have it now. I have seen photos of convincingly authentic (army) M40 tropical caps with all of these stamps, on this forum, the AK forum, the War Relics forum, on dealer websites (mostly Virtual Grenadier) and in print (Borg & Twiname, Figueroa, Fisher and Kurtz). Some of you have been kind enough to send me clearer/ additional photos of them. Ignore the letters in square brackets — they are my codes.

        I should probably highlight a couple of issues of potential controversy within it. First, it doesn't include Ritter or Clemens Wagner yet. These remain in my uncertain list (below). Some of you would have them in the list now. Second, I am not yet certain Vogl is a manufacturer's stamp, primarily because the name occurs on utterly different caps, but also because of the identification of 0/0678/5015s, with which Vogl is associated in one cap, with Ritter. Third, Berlago/ Lago. The caps I've seen with these stamps are quite different but the stamps in them are very similar. Fourth, Schellenberg. I have an idea that some of you doubt the authenticity of this cap (it was shown in Fisher & Lock and further photos were posted on The Saleroom). The available photos aren't that good but donkihotis7 has posted a very close, but unnamed analogue for it, which looks OK to me. Finally, the list list is based wholly on caps already in the public domain and probably not complete. I only learned of the name Kurtze & Storkmann when 90th Light posted it a couple of weeks back and the correct reading of Resolut is of course also new to me.

        Ritter is currently under discussion in another thread.

          Correction
          Karl Neubert. On reflection, this is an inference. I haven't seen the stamp, only a cap said to be by an Erfurt maker (in Kurtz p.142), the insignia application of which matches that described to me for Neubert. Possibly therefore this maker too should be in my list of possibles. Probably I got the details of the name off one of the lists previously posted. I'd be most interested to see details of one of these caps if any one has one. Likewise my other possibles.

            Also have confirmed Almi made Herr M40's, have seen a nice used one. An Almi was dissed here by some but it's a good cap imo. An advanced DAK collector has confirmed this and we will have some photos soon...

            Can anyone else add another ?

                  Berolina is G.A. Hoffmann, Berlin. Berlago would be a consortium of Berlin tailors within the LAGO system.

                            Years Back at the MAX or SOS I Absolutely saw an ORIGINAL GEORG TEUFEL TUTTLINGEN M40 non soutached example..I think it was 42 dated..no RBN
