Here is mine,nice worn Meyer with RBNr. beginning with zero,59 size,hand applied bevo insignia - I think not common to see them with hand stitched insignia and RBNr.

Showed this photo before , so I will show it again.
Vet's sisters pickup circa 1982 unfortunately I did not save one for myself. Sorry about that now. ( scan off a poloroid)
Two types: Maker and rbn marked, screened and grommet vented and box sewn and tucked insignia. They all had the suede side out on the black hatched chinstraps.
They were mint as the hats were stored in a suitcase in the attic and the rest of the stuff in a garage.

Hi , I also thing that they are good. I know that everiting ,, Czech,, sounds problematic. But sometimes there is something good. I have founf lot of DAK items in Czechrep. personaly. I would liket to know where are thees nice caps today :-(

Does anyone know when insignia was first machine sewn onto Meyers? Earliest hats have hand sewn insignia and later hats machine sewn. Most of the hats worn in Africa exhibit hand sewn insignia.Esse Quam VideriComment

That's a good question John. My understanding is that machine sewing began somewhere towards the end of '42 moving into '43. Hand sewn were in '42.Originally posted by John Hodgin View Post

Am still learning Larry, so just who is this professor you refer to?
Agree with your observations. But final model Heer tropical tunics were produced until the end of the war (without tropical insignia) so perhaps some Luftwaffe tropical clothing was produced later than 43, though we have not yet seen any.
Most 43 dated Meyers in collections are unissued, seems the earlier hats are the ones which exhibit wear. Are there any Meyers in collections out there with machine sewn insignia which have definite wear?Esse Quam VideriComment
