Nice Schellenberg Steve. Looks like it has some wear, is there sweat staining to the inside front band?

I agree. Very nice. Love the shape of the visor.

Steve, no chinstrap or neckflap I presume?

      Thanks for sharing!

John: Yes there is a nice dark ring of sweat around the inside right at the edge.

Larry: No chinstrap or neckflap. Someday they'll turn up. I just keep looking.

I'm glad you like it !

        Regards
        Steve T

          My addition to this thread

The smaller brother to John's beautiful hat.

Link to see other photos of this hat.

Most 43 dated Meyers in collections are unissued, seems the earlier hats are the ones which exhibit wear.
To John's point, this '43 did not see any wear.

A photo from German Paratroops in Africa, should be here.

Asked this on another Meyer thread. The Meyer shown in this photo was among some of the first produced with machine sewn insignia. Can anyone tell how this can be determined?

John, is it because the pictured hat has the small grommets instead of the larger screened variety?

Good observation, but no Harry. Both type grommets were used in early hats.

                      John,

Is it because the eagle (I think) and cockade are folded to shape versus being straight sewn?

The latest addition to my modest collection. Lacks the silver piping that Bryon's two have but still a nice cap. Homer
