I recall seeing and handling a Officers cap for sale by the then owner
at an early MAX Show (St Louis!) It was gigantic...The owner (A Young GI)
claimed he had bought it in Austria???He had lots of Docs to include a thick folder which started with a pic of Baby Otto with Birth Cert and a succession of pics thru school, with Certs.,Hochschule,University and associated papers.
Last pic was of a massive granite stone, named in a cemetry I believe it was in Vienna.
    Jeez,so long ago.....

It certainly seems to be another tunic on the pictures, but as others already wrote, he probably had more than 1 tunic/visor hat.

Can we please see some more pictures of the grouping?
Was it OK to display his medals showing the swastika in his funeral?
Did they break the 'law' being hardcore SS, or was it acceptable in a funeral?

what is this by the way?:

The beret the boy is wearing has the sign of the "HIAG" (Hilfsgemeinschaft auf Gegenseitigkeit). That is an organisation of former Waffen-SS veterans, who did not receive any pension for their service-time. They also helped searched war-criminals to escape via Rome to South America.

One of the interesting things about some of the Skorzeny tunics are the incredible small chest pockets, He is in one when he surrender to the allies.

Paul--thanks for posting that. Yours is the type I am more familiar with--a Studentika-style Mutze. The Skorzeny model appears to be a Wehrmachtschnitt cut, circa 1939. I guess I will have to order a catalog to learn more....

Very nice unusual cap to say the least Paul.

Federico, perhaps the pocket is the normal tunic size pocket. Skorzeny is just so huge, it makes the pocket appear small in comparison.

                              Skorzeny

Skorzeny may be more tricky in Death than in Life.

OK, I think this explains it. Skorzeny was an honorary leader of the Austrian NSD, and the cap was given to him in 1943, which accounts for the Sattleform. Here is a close-up of the hat:
