Is this a good DAK M43 cap

    Hi,
I have been offered this M43 DAX cap and was wondering if you can give me an opinion on it. I do not collect Heer caps and not sure if this is ok..It looks fine to me.

Not crazy about it from fotos..insignia looks a little funky..Hard to tell from fotos BUT IMHO might be a high end fake..Lining material looks close but no cigar from the fotos..See what the tropical fellows have to say

        Oh, I could entertain doubts.

Although Originals do exist, Not normal to see branch piping when a full internal sweatband is present.

I think it's got a very good chance of being original.
          If it's a fake, it's a bloody good one.

Gerard might be able to help with this. He sold one from the same maker a while ago, posted here:

Overall I like the M40 cap which started this thread, everything appears to be by this maker. One important question however, what are the grommets made of steel, brass or zinc ? Hard to tell in these images but this maker only used a certain type. Another point to consider is the size "60" stamp, is this the correct font & style for this maker ? (To be honest however the more I look at this cap the more I like it.)

Is the soutache golden yellow or signal yellow ? It looks golden yellow to me for recon If this is the case then this is a very rare hat. Signal yellow is hard enough to find but golden yellow is very, very hard to get. How is the soutache attached, machine-stitched or hand-stitched ?

This hat has real potential to be right and well worth a getting in my opinion but there are a couple of finer points I would need to check with a hands-on

Here are more pics of the insignia. Looks to be machine stiched (sotache) and the eagle is hand sewn. The grommets are not magnetic so I would say zinc. The soutache is golden yellow.

Looks well done but I would still harbor doubts.

Bryon, we all respect your doubts but it's very frustrating when you almost never give your reasons why!

I agree with Ben, it looks original from here. If it's a repro, it's very well done compared with some of them out there. I like that it appears the stitching of the hat seems to overlap the soutache and cockade indicating that it was made that way and the soutache wasn't applied later. I like it!

Is it the pictures or it's my imagination that the lining is super clean including markings but yet the sweatband has been seen use, heavy sweat which comes out in the front of the cap.

I must add though that the cap looks real.
