Take a peak where the sweatband ends meet. Pull them apart a bit and see if you can see two sets of wear marks. It is not a must for a put together cap but you will not see it on an untouched.

The visor is enroute back to dealer so no further examination is possible. So after spending another hour with the visor this morning under varying light conditions, measuring etc I couldnt determine for myself a 100% comfort level.
The pleat question for me was critical, where you pointed out the pulled pleat, there was no wear/staining in that small area where it was pulled, etc indicating at some time the liner has been resewn at least in that area. That doesnt mean it isnt original to the visor, a repair may have been made, lots of reasons.

Again, in more experienced hands this is probably 100%. I had a limited inspection time with this visor, so I move on better informed on what I need to look for in visors, and I appreciate you more advanced collectors sharing your experience and knowledge with me.

I will say that as the only one to have this visor in his hands I returned it not because I think that it is bad, but like everyone here, you dont want to make apologies for it if not "textbook" and in your collection. Esp a colored piped WSS visor which falls under special scrutiny, and I want to sleep at night!

I agree. I would stick to finding a nice white piped one. These color piped SS visors are not worth the risk IMO.

I have one I'm 100% confident in, but it was a painful and expensive experience getting there ........

Thanks Tony. I have several A-SS and W-SS visors, many posted on GDC or vetted in hand by guys I know and trust. But trying to learn to "fish for myself" if you get my meaning and value the learning experience.
Interested in the pink piped panzer EM-NCO SS visor posted, thoughts on that one?

When You Pay Primo Price For A Collectable, It Should Not Be Necessary To Make Excuses Why Things Are A Certain Way. The Inside Surely Could Have Been Period Reattached. However, That, Combined With The Branch Piping Makes You Look At It With A Keener Eye.
