...SS, what is the size marked on the liner toward the back of the cap and do the 'quadrant marks' line up with the seams?

I hate to be obtuse but there's reason..
    Regards,
    Dave

There is no size marked on the liner but there is some sort of marking which appears to be (depending on how you hold the cap) a stylized M with a horizontal line to the left of it or turn it upside down and it looks like this VI-. Postwar marking?
The interior of the Erel is very similar to the other 2 Erel visors I have, 1 LW officers and 1 Heer Inf Officers. Niether have a size stamp either.
I am not 100% sure I know for certain what you mean Dave by quadrant marks lining up with the seams and at the risk of sounding like an idiot, I do not wish to guess. You can PM me if you prefer. Thanks Dave.

SS, I applaud your showing the visor here. I have a an eagle on a mining cap that had one of the prongs broken off, and it was reattached (I believe period) with some sort of strange glue that looks just like your eagle.

What we need to see is a true "under the hood" shot--can you fold down the orange flap so that we can see the pasteboard and prongs?

Doug...there aren't any secrets today so a PM won't work! The quadrant marks are 'lines' made by colored pencil of green, blue or red on the liner. These marks are slashes that will match up with the seams you will see on the outside of the cap...again at quadrants! Front, side, back and side.

The Roman numeral (most often seen) will indicate the hat size in centimeters....akin to V, VI, VII, VIII etc.

These should match the size of the cap frame
          Regards,
          Dave

Dave, thanks for the education I sincerely appreciate it.
Yes those would be the Roman Numerals VI. The colored pencil markings for the quadrant markings and are in blue and align perfectly with the seams.

Now Dave, for stupid question 2, I am looking to measure the cap frame. Can you tell me exactly where I should be measuring, I assume I am looking for 6cm. Again please pardon the inexperience and I appreciate every chance I get to learn while I collect.
            Thanks again

Thanks Stonemint. Here are more pics. That wierd glue does in fact look like something period, dont ask me why but a "modern" repair would be something more subtle or a complete replacement I would think. Plus this eagle has been nicely pressed into the fabric indicating it has been there a long time and probably original to the visor.

                Closeup of prongs.
Note the peppermint green fabric shows discolouration from normal wear where you would expect and not behing the plastic sweatshield or in the folds of the visor.

Pic of VI size marking and rear quadrant marking (thanks Dave) and part of rear sweatband "bowtie". forgive incorrect terminology. Lets call this OJT.
Let me know if you require more pics gents, happy to provide them.
                      thanks.

Don’t go thumbs up yet guys. I see some signs that the lining may have been reworked. Can you post shots all the way around under the sweatband? Also measure the inside of the cap base all the way around. It should be exactly 56cm’s. Remember Erel sweatbands are one of the easiest to replace undetected.

From just the photos shown here are a few things that don’t look right. First, on all untouched period visors I have ever seen the pleats of the lining all flow in one direction. I also see what looks to be an unfolded older pleat. The lining looks to sit crooked and the rear seam of the sweatband is off center. Look at where the front cushion material starts on both sides. I don’t know about any of you but this is enough to put doubts in my mind.
