I am glad to see my gut feeling may have been right.

I hope not, that would be a red flag for me. A real color piped would command at least double that and then some.

Or maybe the seller found out it was a good one.

It passes all know tests regarding wear, spurious holes, unexplained marks so on and so forth, it is text book, apart from an Heer pattern c/strap, which was very common period. I have heard the price, and consider the piece underpriced, largly due due to the adverse publicity any coloured piped gets on this very forum!
              Kind regards

Does that mean you are going to buy it Martin??

For what it's worth I really like this cap. It seems to have everything the seller says it has ... he's provided good clear shots too ... the insignia's nicely matched date and condition wise,if not the maker, but as we've said before that's extremely common,as is the Heer strap.

All-in-all it's NOT 'too good to be true' like many,if not most of these caps are.

                Ian.

With that being said I see no obvious flaws other than an army chinstrap. I think it is worthy of a hands on.

Bob I like to use a magic 8-ball, “Is it a good one, yes or no?” Oops I think I just showed my age.

Funny that no one has posted photos of it yet. Either here or in the thread on SS color piped caps in the SS forum.

The item is apparently still available, as linked on the first posting of this thread. I just asked for a price. But you know what? If it is 7K, we all go boo!, and if it is 15K, we all go whoa! Until this hobby has an independent vetting service (like coins or stamps), these Holy Grail/fantasy items - like Generale visors - will be a throw of the dice. Most serious collectors and investors do not gamble.

Well if the dealer has a no questions asked inspection and the buyer knows what to look for I wouldn’t go as far as saying it is a gamble. I would love to get a closer look but the only thing holding me back is the money. Times are tight these days.

These pieces are like KC's.They have been faked & fooled with since 45.
If you know what your looking at there is no "dice roll" involved.
I would'nt mind spending some time with this visor if I were looking for one .I wonder how this would be looked at w/white piping ?
