      Once in a lifetime?

Hmmm,,,,,,, After weeks of discussion of how rare color- piped SS visors are, a real one turns up. Price on request..... do militaria dealers have publicity agents?:

Interesting! I would never give an unconditional thumbs up to one of these unless I had at least three hours alone with a high power loupe, incandescent, fluorescent and natural sunlight conditions.

With that being said I see no obvious flaws other than an army chinstrap. I think it is worthy of a hands on.

Ditto the above comments--anyone going to buy it, or at least inspect it?

I would have to agree with everyone else on this one.

The problem with these confounded branch-piped caps is not convincing yourself to buy it, but covincing somebody else to buy it when you are ready to sell.

At least it is very refreshing to see a colored piped hat that is not dismissed as an example of the rather dastardly attempts we see here so often. That this has a good look, from the posted photos is nice to see.

Many think the forums are jaded, but we all look foorward to the gems that are hiding out there. I know I am crossing my fingers that this one proves to be as original as it looks, from the pics.

....I like to look at the entire 'picture' and then attempt to find a contradiction! Sound familiar Bob?

This well 'thumbed' and 'stained' example doesn't show (IMHO) the same wear and staining to the front of the sweat leather nor to the material between the band and visor...

There requires a great deal of on and off to create the 'thumbing'... yet the wear isn't reflected in the material between the visor and the leather.

                        Why?
                        Regards,
                        Dave

The price is pretty reasonable considering the rarity of these things. With my newfound knowledge and excellent pics of the "trouble areas" from the dealer I think you visor experts would be impressed for sure.

                            visor cap

Hello All, I have an advantage over most of you, regarding this cap, today I had this cap in my hands! I didnt have 3 hrs with it, however I did have time to inspect all areas of contention with any visor cap be it colour piped or other. It passes all know tests regarding wear, spurious holes, unexplained marks so on and so forth, it is text book, apart from an Heer pattern c/strap, which was very common period. I have heard the price, and consider the piece underpriced, largly due due to the adverse publicity any coloured piped gets on this very forum!
                            Kind regards
                            Martin
