    No, The NCO straps are 100 % medical (with pre-war LWstyle tresse), not TSD as you stated.

    TSD (Truppensonderdienst) was setup as a special career service for officers by an order dated 24 January 1944.

    So it wasn't until 44 that the TSD-blue ( or dragonerblau?) sub-waffenfarbe was introduced. And besides these facts, the TSD blue is a few shades lighter as medical cornflower blue if I'm not mistaken...

          Fellas... when I say it's a Chaplain, it's not my opinion.. it is a FACT. I have personally owned both kinds and can tell you it is a Chaplain.

          If somebody out there wants to argue that it is a medical, please come armed with something to back it up other than just an opinion.

            I asked you this in my pm as well. If indeed Chaplain, how do you explain the color of the shoulderstraps in below picture? They have exactly the same purple shade in them as the soutache on the background.

            Chaplains didn't wear schoulderboards and definatly no straps right?

            Please, I want to hear your opinion

              The explanation is simple. It only makes sense that WH clergy had a support staff (everything from scheduling to sacraments) and your cap is proof that there were enlisted ranks assigned to a Religious unit. These soldiers would not need to be ordained ministers, just soldiers... so they would have shoulder straps.

              We need to find Mark Hayden, who wrote a book on German Army chaplains in WW2. SOMEBODY on the WA forum must know him!!

                Do you have some info about Religious unit in the Wehrmacht Heer ?
                I am not saying that there is not but it is the first time I hear that !
                French Army was not the German one but there is a lot of things common to both as an old European Tradition ! And there is any Religious units in French army, in France Chaplain were attached at the Division level and used the divisional service, more some priest were not Chaplain (as there is not enought need) and they could also be fighting officers, medics, or even soldiers....
                I don't know NOTHING AT ALL about German Chaplain organisation but will be VERY interested to learn and I don't want to say that a priest, private soldier in an infantry unit used a chaplain soutache on its Feldm******252;tze...

                  Pfarrer or Divisionspfarrer were officers on Divisional level

                  only a Pfarrer (clergy officer) would wear the clergy Waffenfarbe.
