The "Ron R. Mode of Presentation": Having eye-level pix of the front, both sides, the rear, an overhead, interior, and with both the hood and trunk popped--the most desirable way to present one's hat on the forum.

                  Old thread, new phrase--

The "power-bulge hood" (ie, the peak stiffener portrudes out from the band, then smoothly goes up so the crown is perpendicular to the crown):

Cap spring? If we are talking about the same thing, we called it in the US military a grommet.

A grommet was a piece of round metal with a sliding tab that made the the top of the visor circular.

A grommet was also immediately removed when commissioned so that the 21 year old newbie thought he looked salty, fooling nobody. So it then looked like a crusher cap since the grommet was no longer in the visor, or if left in just in case an inspection was coming around, the ends were slid together and clamped into place so as to have no function at all.

                          Saucer Cap,,, AKA "Teller form."

I guess this would be more alluded to some of us that had worn them at one as a term related to the equivelent US headgear, but still a visor cap none the less.

Not to get out of focus but wonder about some of the colorful the sidecap terms,,,,"piss cutter", "c*nt-cap",etc!

                            Thank you Stonemint

I've been collecting for years and didn't know half of these expressions

I just made my own mind up what most of them meant.

                              Some others:

                              S/D: Sweatdiamond

Band Trim: The wool trim below the bottom ring of piping (in about 1/2 of all hats it does not match the wool body of the hat in terms of quality).

#1 would be what we in the US call the peak (highest point on the hat).

#10= the visor (but what some in Europe call the peak).
