        Gerd,
A lovely example of a Luftwaffe white top.
Mark, thanks for posting the most interesting shots of your veterans' cap. Are you sure it isn't for former naval personnel of the Soldatenbund? I was under the impression the NSDMB had a different stamping for the interior of their caps.

              Thank you Karl.

Replying to Derek, I frankly do not know of any specific sweatshield design marking for the Marinebund and that would differ from the basic ‘Soldatenbund’ design.

By the way, I realize that my designation as “Admiral Veteran” was rather misleading considering that the wearer was not necessarily a high ranking Kriegsmarine veteran (= military rank) but that he simply hold an higher administrative responsibility-level in the Deutscher Marine-Bund (= para-military and political level).Sorry for having been imprecise.

              Best,
              Mark

Thanks for the great close-up Mark,
The only reason I asked was that the cap inscription for the Marine Bund was supposed to have been "Die vorschriftsmaessige Muetze des NSDMB, ges.geschuetzt". The inscription in your cap is the one for the caps worn by the Soldatenbund. All of these organisations were supposed to have been rolled into the Deutscher Reichskriegerbund in 1938 but the Marine Bund seems to have somehow extricated itself from this edict.

Here's another August Geiger cap, this time a Matrosenmutze; one of the interesting things is that if you compare it with the Geiger Beamte summer visor that I posted earlier in this thread, you'll notice that the price tag for the Beamte hat is attached with two parallel threads - the same two threads are present in this cap, although the price tag is long gone. If it hadn't been for the tag still being attached to the Beamte cap, I'd have never known what the two threads were for on the Matrosenmutze.
