SS Buckles to collect: The ultimate list

Christian and I we do not believe this buckle (or its little sister for Officers) was unmarked on purpose. We think this was either the result of a lazy worker at the factory forgetting to stamp marking on it (most likely)

Here is another one attesting such lack of control at the Overhoff's firm. Unmarked to the front but ...

Both buckle and pictures belong - if I recall properly - to Raymond (USA)

This is, I personally believe, the first marking used by Overhoff in 1931. Most "reference" books are saying this was the full motto but I do not agree (the date of 1927 was already a non sense). I rather tend to believe the full motto was the latest, not the first, before Overhoff stamped his SS buckles with RZM/SS markings.

Note the additional DRGM, not stamped but engraved as part of the male die, under the oak leaves crown.

Looking at the marking of the above buckle and reading my above comments it should not surprise anybody I named the following/this buckle as "Type 1"...

Type 2 has square fonts. Between Type 1 and Type 2 the latest is the hardest to find.

OVERHOFF & CIE / LÜDENSCHEID GES.GESCH.

This is the one called by some either "Full motto Overhoff", "Full name" or anything else with the same meaning. For the discriminating collector this marking exist in three main variants:
Centered, Left positioned and also grounded off. I am posting now the first two and will post the third one later as part as "Ground off Overrhoff's"

Please note reversed "&". We still do not know anything about it.

This is the most common marking of any Overhoff serie made in nickel silver. This is also the most common nickel silver SS buckle a collector can find.

This example is absolutely mint in its un-worn / un-issued condition. Front has its full layer of dull silver grey finish as stipulated by early SS regulations.

Ground off Overhoff’s

This includes ANY early nickel silver SS buckles made by the Overhoff firm having erased (grounded off) their original company's name to prevent such buckles been seized by the SS authority (probably in late 1935 / early 1936)
