Hi Guys - Mr.Thayer still does not believe he pictured fakes in his article. So now he is asking me where he could purchase some of those fake RODO he pictured for his own study. Honestly I do not have time to bother anymore with this insanity and I forwarded this thread..

Please get in mind that Mr.Thayer has an hard time to believe anything posted in forums, behaviour I cannot say he is wrong to have. So I will ask anybody to just post direct link (s) where one person can buy such fake.

You have liberty to overload with links since the future of collecting is now in your hands. I sincerely hope Mr.Thayer and his article editor will start to react the positive way...

    Thanks

I did not intend to take part, but as Christian says. Not even the text for the shipping box is correct!
That would say one enough about the rest of the article.
I do not blame Bender. The author is responsible for what he wrote.

The editor should have the final decision to publish or not. This is in my opinion why many authors are selecting one house over anothers: reliability. Still I agree with you. At least until the next issue. After been aware of this matter we should expect such respectable house to have a correction in the next issue.

So the author purchased this box of 38 buckles. So now he writes an article to help him sell this repo crap. Bender shouldn't use him again.

As said before I do not further intend to be involved in this discussion, but when I started reading the article in the Military Advisor, my eyes were attracted to the text upon the box.
Seeing this it was for me enough! Whoever "faked" this has never seen the address of Dold stated in old periodicals.

One cannot expect mr. Bender has knowledge about all subjects, written in his magazine. Nor do have his editors and so they must rely upon what authors bring to
              our attention, right or wrong!

                  Hello Wilhelm,

with all due respect I have to disagree.

I'm a publisher in life, working in my family university press since 35 years and recently gained control of a competitor, so I can offer my experience.
You are correct, Mr. Bender can't have knowledge about all subjects and for such reason a publisher has to create a good team of editors specialized on any matter he's interested in publishing. The editors have responsability about what authors are offering leaving the last decision to the publisher. So it seems something didn't work in Mr. Bender's staff .

Whatever could have happened, Mr.Bender has been in touch with myself yesterday. As we all know he is a highly respected editor and his edition house is always the main house authors would seek to publish their work since the name is synonym of reliability. Let me assure you he is as concerned as we are by this article. As pointed out by Wihelm he cannot have knowledge of all subjects. Who can honestly? But now HE KNOWS and he is closely monitoring this matter with great attention but it is still, so far, up to Mr.Thayer to write a response and possible retraction if the author is convinced. The VERY BEST input we had was submitted by Christian (Wickie) when he wrote " the state Baden-Württemberg (not Württemburg) was founded in the 1950's." . I did not even know this myself! How can one deny this? Impossible. So, just with that sentence which is a perfect proof, all the article already fell apart.

Let's see what the next issue will bring, and hopefully there will be a correction.
In the meantime I would suggest to Ric a pinned thread so any reader of this issue should be warn that the vast majority of what is displayed in this article is fake and so, do not buy such crap.

The editors are also just persons and cannot have knowledge about all subjects of the intricate Third Reich-period. It is impossible. You can't have for every subject an expert "in the house"!
We will never be able to understand all.......

Ignorance showed by someone who consider himself as an expert, so skilled in the matter to write an article on a known collector's military magazine, cannot be excused.
Nowadays modern specialized fora are well known, and it is easy to spot fakes.

I've stopped believing in good faith mistakes.

Anyone offering opinions on militaria originality by forums or magazines has a great responsability since a lot of money change hands based on such opinions.

Our loved hobby is just a business for many people, a good reason to burn any bullsh*t pusher, no matter if in good faith or not.

And The website I submited the link, which is run and operated by Arthur D. Royster states a pompous "Seing through the fakes and forgeries". Should be a very very old man with a vision close to blindness... Real good commercial for the credibility of his website to promote such junk... By the way, no comment is showing since he screen them all....this is called democracy...for some.
