    Fine detail SA buckle

This is not the most exciting of "white metal" SA buckles, other than the feature of remarkably fine detail within the roundel. Actually, quite exceptional to my mind.

    Regards,

    David

        Hi David

your SA buckle collection is amazing ! Thanks for sharing this masterpiece - what a fine detailed swastika. What do you think, how many different types of roundels are around ?

        Cheers

Glad that you liked this particular roundel and every so often, SA buckles do appear with the feature of remarkably good quality detail.

I have attached a random selection of SA's roundels (3 mobile swastika and 3 sun wheel swastika) and which again, have in my opinion quite fine detail. It is of course all subjective and to the collectors personal taste.

As to the number of known SA roundel designs - goodness knows !!

          Regards,

          David

Sometimes perhaps, we have a perfectly innocent SA buckle which is by detail, the pure antithesis of "fine".

This one is not heavily worn and instead, has the original stamping detail totally masked by heavy and clumsy chroming. The buckle is I think one of the early and ubiquitous cottage industry "cannibalised" or "conversion" buckles, i.e., a period made roundel attached to an earlier period box and of note, the obverse displays extremely messy soldering to the two affixing points.

                        Regards,

                        David

As David has quite eloquently stated, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Each SA buckle seems to have a personality of it's own which makes them very unique.

Here is one of my favorite SA buckles; a beautifully detailed brass SA by Linden & Funke with a pebbled rotated swas.
