    David/Ric,

Not wanting to steal any of Chad's thunder but yes, he does have a DJ buckle with the RZM 51 marking identical to David's. I know this as I just traded this to Chad just the other week.

I don't think he will mind if I show this one.

          Hello Dan,

that's a good new and in addition I would say the exact same ears and prongs as David's RZM51 marked one !

Now let's try to definitively put the same maker behind the buckles shown in pics #1/2 #8/9 and #11/12 : but this time by another feature.

            David,

may you please verify if the bottom prong (by back view) in your RZM51 bears 3 parallel cuts as shown in this picture (top longer, middle medium and bottom shorter) ?

            Thanks

            Ric

Super as to how this thread has developed.

              Dan
Many thanks for showing your DJ with the RZM 51 mark. To be perfectly honest, if the SA that I posted had the same "quality" of stamp, then I would have been less concerned. The DJ has a well placed and even RZM 51, whilst the same on the SA is bordering on amateur. The same style of logo to include an extended lower arm on the Z and a differently placed and different style of numbering perhaps ?

              Ric
A very interesting issue that you have raised in connection with the claw markings. Remarkably, the SA has marks of sort and which I had dismissed as purely tool related scratches. I have attached some images, although the quality is poor due to having to use artificial light. If you think that the marks are worthy of further scrutiny, then let me know and I will take some more images tomorrow and in natural light.

              Regards,

              David

                Hello David,

and thanks for your close-ups : unfortunately I do not see the confirmation I expected, since the three cuts appear differently spaced as on my buckle.

May you please post another close-up referred to the prongs of buckle #4/5 ?

May be on that one, we find again the same 3 cuts as on my buckle.

                Ric

I have a thought as to the maker with the flat ut prongs..Possibly RZM 34 Karl Wurster.. I have HJ and DJ examples which both bear these flat prongs.. I am sans camera at the moment, but will post pics as soon as I can. Actually, David has an unmarked DJ which is definately made by RZM 34 and it has the flat prongs... hopefully he can post a closeup of them..Chad

                      hello

very interesting ! thanks for your research ...

do you think only one maker made flat prongs ?

a DJ m4/34 (a friend's one) and my SA with flat prongs too..

                      best

                        Hello Emmanuel,

for sure several makers used blunt post, but we don't know if those prongs came by the same supplier or not.

I believe your SA is by the same maker as buckles #1/2, #4/5, #8/9 and #14/15, but apart the very distinct eagle/roundel we need something else to definitively link them.

My apologies for the late response. Unfortunately I cannot for the moment post close up images of the claws to the SA buckle, no. 4/5. The buckle is in England and I am in the Kingdom of Bahrain !

One reminder feature though is that we should not confuse stub end claw tips with machined off claw tips. The latter are very special and distinct.

Here are images of the DJ buckles that I think Chad was referring to.

                          Regards,

                          David
