      Vimoutiers Tiger restauration.

      Hi Vince,

Thank you very much for the additional information and photos. I hope they can restore the Tiger to the image in your post #13 and include 102nd SS Heavy Tank Battalion tactical markings. It should stay in Vimoutiers, IMO. It is a tourist draw for the small village and is quite close to where it broke down. My son and I enjoyed getting to see it in 2014.

        Good news,

Would be good to add some rain protection above (a car port...).
Most panzers in open air slowly rust away.

        Cheers

Yes it will be great to see it while we are there Frank, but unfortunately I guess we won't be able to tak pictures sitting on it like these other lucky forum members did in the past.

Some journalists were interviewing the mayor of the town. And asked him why it is not protected while it should be restored in running conditionā€¦ ???
And the mayor called immediatly the services on the phone to have a fence around the Tiger...

Considering political climate, I wonder how long those treasures will remain on public display?

Would be nice and honest of them (or you) to give this little - but important - detail to the interested reader!

John, The Tiger is still hereā€¦

But the Flak 38 in St Lambert/Dives has been stolen 2 nights ago. The same night our car disappeared and was burnt 30km away from our place.

I reread our PM and you didn't plan to have visit to St Lambert so you are not missing something.

                            Cheers

That is terrible news Eric. Do they have any idea who took the Flak? Sorry to hear about your car too, I hope they get the person whole stole and burned it. It sure sounds like things are turning bad in France.

I did not know about the Flak in St. Lambert/Dives, but I guess now it does not matter anyway. But I hope they do find it soon.

                                Hi,

i don't want to be rude, but this is clearly stupid to let a 30,000 euros Flak 38 gun outside without only 5 small iron bars that can be cut in less than 3 minutes...
The whole operation only needed 3 to 4 men, and at best 5 minutes.

The gun is probably already far far away... Museums and associations in France are known to be very very laxists (because they are not very professionals).
