Harry, I never meant you have any wrong intentions, but we as volunteers have to obey Museum regulations.
About this parts: half-circle armor and fender were located about 30 meters away, so I can’t be sure they are from the same vehicle (most probably they are not). But no parts in this set match Soviet armored cars (at least I do not know such parts, while we have running Ba-3 in Kubinka). They were mixed up with 2cm cartridge shells and some other 222 parts were on the spot, so I can assume majority of them are from 222.
By the way how do you think, German shovel and pick found among this parts - will they fit Kubinla’s 222?

If the shovel head is from a German shovel it should fit. The pick was not a standard issue item for the vehicle. However Soldiers are known for improvising and improving on their equipment so it is possible that a pick could have been mounted on the outside somewhere. The Germans used two different shovels for the 222 a short one and one with a long handle. Both are seen on WWII photographs of the 222. I have also seen photographs with the T-handled shovel but that was not standard for the 222. Note that when I refer to the 222 I also include 221/223 vehicles as well. I went through all of the photographs again looking for parts that looked like they could be from the 222 but could not in all honestly find any. Do you have a photograph of the Lafette that was found there? Harry

Hi Roman! Thank you for the photographs, the part of the Lafette looks like the MG mount that mounted to the left of the 2 cm and the two armored glass containers with covers are those from an early model turret. I have two of the armored glass containers; one is like new and the other has a couple of cracked glass panels in it. Was there any of the bottom of the Lafette around anywhere? That is the really heavy part with all of the gears in it. Thanks again for the photographs. Harry

Thank you! Is it possible to identify any other parts on previous photos? Of course I am not sure they are all from this vehicle, but they were all found just meters away from each other (excluding fender and curved armor). Still there were so many vehicles destroyed or abandoned in the area that some parts might be mixed up. For example this Willys wreck was about 50 meters away http://photo.qip.ru/users/tankdriver...73/full_image/ Note surviving part of Red Army number painted on it http://photo.qip.ru/users/tankdriver...01/full_image/ And this remains of half track were about 300 meters away: http://photo.qip.ru/users/tankdriver...09/full_image/ (Sorry for photos quality) On the next field there are remains of Valentine tank and so on…
We have found no other lafette parts – probably they are all gone to scrap or just far away enough not to be found by quick search. Villagers partly disassembled vehicles for parts, bolts, nuts and bearings before sending remaining heavy pieces to scrap. Do you have any detailed images of Lafette to make it easyer to recognaise parts if we run across them in future?

              222 Firing

Kameraden, Here are a couple of real short videos in battle of the new 2cm rounds made by Joe Swanson for us. The wads disintegrate so nothing leaves the bore but smoke (and lots of that)!
Once at an event I never even think of videos/pics etc, so these are just what we happened to get by chance. I still need to set up a controlled video and hope to soon. I also want to get a shot of it firing at night !

Our original goal when installing the Saiga 12 gauge into the 2cm receiver to use as our main gun, was to lay the Saiga on it's side so that we could feed magazines from the left side as originally done. We also wanted to build the modern Saiga magazine within an original 10 round 2cm magazine so it looked like we were actually loading it with the correct magazines.
Well all of that turned out of course, to be a major head ache to alter everything so much and would have made loading a real bitch as the breech must be open and locked to insert a new magazine and made clearing the weapon a royal pain too. So for now, this is what we have.
As with everything, we are always looking for ways to improve our vehicle and overall impressions. Part of the challenge and fun.
In these two vids we had no other vehicles or armor opposing us, so I was being pretty stingy with the rounds ($1.00 a piece) plus , originally of course 2cm were not necessarily used on Infantry in the open, but I would use it when they were dug in or in buildings .
Of course when we were presented with a large squad of GIs in the open we emptied all 10 rounds into them,,,,,why not !

                222 Firing

Here is another couple of vids shwoing just the gun firing, from an email I sent another forum:
Check out this video of the new rounds I had Joe Swanson make for me and the 2cm cannon on the 222. Since I couldn't afford to go with a 50 cal for the 2cm cannon , we decided to use a 12 gauge semi auto Seiga shotgun built into the receiver of the 2cm gun. Initial Fiochi rounds were disappointing, not very loud and no smoke. So Joe made these with synthetic black powder and loaded them up heavy. You get a nice loud report and more importantly a big puff of smoke. When you go one on one with another vehicle they have no idea they are being shot at unless there is a nice could of smoke emitting from the barrel with each shot. And BTW... no BFA required !
This is a functional and reasonable alternative to a real 2cm cannon or using very expensive 50 cal weapon and their high priced blanks as well.
The second short video shows the cannon receiver with the side plate removed so you can see the action of the gun.
I also just this week got all of my correct radio equipment installed into the 222 , thanks to Neil Gillbanks and Michael Wagner, Danke du Gents! The rest of the interior I just about have all tweaked so it looks really nice with all the bells and whistles. I have had more than one guy talk about how I could fudge on some of the stuff on inside of the turret and no one would ever see it or know. I'm like...'are you out of your friggin mind, what about me and what I have to look at'? I re-enact for me and I don't want to look at very up close a bunch of bad and farb crap! Why spend all that $$$$ for half ass.
Big NW coast event this weekend so I will try and get some vids of it in action, but I never take pics or videos at events and rely on our Kriegsberichter to get shots for me.
Anyways, nothing fancy here just a few seconds long and in my yard. NB

Now that is a great solution. Are you in the USA? I have a class II MG 34 but cannot even think of the cost of a Class III 2 cm or the blanks for it. Would it be possible to obtain some photographs of your Lafette or how it was made? I have sent you a PM as well. Thanks Harry

How do you think, will this jack fit SdKfz222? About 90cm long (but it is a little bit longer then it should be if folded properly – now it is not cleaned inside and so not working).

This weekend I took a closer look at Kubinka’s 222 and identified one more detail from this photo - triangular shaped hatch near Coca-Cola bottle is from 222’s frontal fender toolbox.

                              Build a R/C Sdkfz 222

                              Hi everyone!
me and my friends have, a last year project in school, and we decided to build a
wehrmacht vehicle, and we saw the beuty in Sdkfz 222, and we wonder if anoyone of you would like to share some blueprints or anything that we could use to complete this cool project

some functions we are going to add:

coaxial turret, controlled by a motionsensor

add the primary "KwK 30 or KwK 38 gun ( wich will shoot something)

                              add a secondary Mg 34/42

                              and some other cool functions.

so we thank for any help we can get

                              regards
