I bought one of these from MSR in Florida. It should be completed next spring. This is my friend's SDKFZ 222, also from MSR.

Yes, you're correct. It is the SdKfz 247 B from Volkspanzer during the event at Hengelo in Holland.

panzer tracts 13 is a good book for blueprints
panzerspahwagen by ryton is good for reference

has anyone any idea for rear mounting the landrover engine on a defender 110 chassis and keeping the 4wd?

the problem with 222's is that to do a proper reconnaissance impression is that you need at least 2 of them and a funker version as this is how they would have moved on the battlefield,

                  222

im thinking that the germans used what ever they had and many times these things went to battle addhoc and the panzer wedge rule book got set aside after operation barbarossa stalled
i see pictures pictures of kubelwagons doing what should have been armoured recon

Here are a few more pics of our 222. Chucks will be done in just a few months !
This one is full scale , all metal and pretty much dead on. All guns are functional as blank fire now.

This shot inadvertently shows the effectiveness of the camo .

One more for now, unless any one wants to see more.
I know to many collectors and scholars, the word 'reenactor' has many negative associations , but I have found that everyone has something to add to the over all knowledge and interpretation of WWII German military history.
Some just express it differently than others, each are valid and important and contribute.
With that being said, check out his video showing our 222 in action.
Heres an additional FYI......You may know that the Landser slang for the 222 was "Schildkrote" or "turtle", based on its shape.
