Red Sniper Taking out a Tank

He Guys,
last week I saw the movie RED SNIPER and in one part they fire with a mosi nagant rifle and anti tank bullets (?) on the drivers glas optik. Three hits and it went trough and killed the driver.....
Anyone with a good explanation if that is possible ?

Those films you mentioned are all Hollywood crap imo.
The scene described in the initial post is from "Bitva za Sevastopol" or Battle for Sevastopol, which is about female sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko.

Military manuals of the ww2 time show various ways to destroy tanks, but only mention shooting at the tank sights to blind it, not to destroy it.

In the film the tank is not destroyed by three shots from a sniper. The scene goes that the first shot damages the optik, the second shot penetrates the damaged optik and the third shot kills the driver behind the optik. No tank was destroyed by this.

Remember - Saving Private Ryan demonstrated the textbook-approved method of taking out a Tiger with a Thompson.

I have a "Tank Recognition" booklet that was issued to a New Zealand officer (possibly LRDG) for the purpose of recognizing enemy A.F.Vs including their vulnerable areas, and quote "The best targets for small arms and anti tank rifle fire are marked with arrows."

Pictures include Italian "M" 11 and "M" 13 tanks and Mk 2, 3 and 4 German tanks.
There are a lot of tanks with arrows pointing to the drivers vision port.

i see two problems in the "story" has it happen in this war movie :

- Mosin Nagant can't use antitank bullet. However there was a prototype before the war which was never adopted :

- an antitank rifle like the PTRD-41 (14.5mm) however have such antitank bullet, but its precision was not that good, therefore it would be very hard - if not impossible - to make three shots in the driver episcope.
