I'm a bit late to this thread but just wanted to congratulate you Mil on acquiring a very impressive low number GPB. I have more than a few items in my collection that came from John before his passing and all without the 25% commission.

Erich, that knowledge hurts!
I plan to search for some records about the GPB holder. The purchase came with a file about Anton Hiegl but some pages were unclear and of course the text was in German. Perhaps time to get it properly researched especially the fact that he was also a BO holder. Does anyone have any information about the Blutordenträger himself? I see that Ross is reading this thread as we speak.

Hi All:
I was able to identify these "unidentified" GPB's in John's collection and bought No. 21 978:
Lot 8046- GPB 17 416
Lot 8047- GPB 21 978
Lot 8066- GPB 48 721
Lot 8067- GPB 51 792
I also purchased both of his numbered SS daggers as well as the other in the sale that was "unidentified" as I ided all three SS men. Each has a very interesting story. First time I have ided so many in one sale.
Enjoy!

an attribution of 51792 to Josef MĂ¼ller had been done before, but somehow it did not make it into HH's description.

The interesting thing is, there are 2 each small and large GPB's with this number out there. Would make a nice set of 4 like John's 95028 !
