I'm a bit late to this thread but just wanted to congratulate you Mil on acquiring a very impressive low number GPB. I have more than a few items in my collection that came from John before his passing and all without the 25% commission.

      Erich, that knowledge hurts!

I plan to search for some records about the GPB holder. The purchase came with a file about Anton Hiegl but some pages were unclear and of course the text was in German. Perhaps time to get it properly researched especially the fact that he was also a BO holder. Does anyone have any information about the Blutordenträger himself? I see that Ross is reading this thread as we speak.

        Hi All:

I was able to identify these "unidentified" GPB's in John's collection and bought No. 21 978:

        Lot 8046- GPB 17 416

        Lot 8047- GPB 21 978

        Lot 8066- GPB 48 721

        Lot 8067- GPB 51 792

I also purchased both of his numbered SS daggers as well as the other in the sale that was "unidentified" as I ided all three SS men. Each has a very interesting story. First time I have ided so many in one sale.

        Enjoy!

Wow, Ross - You got the nice ones. I've always wanted an SS dagger that could be identified but money's tight.

And just curious, why did you choose No. 21 978?

          Many thanks,
          Mil

            Ross,
an attribution of 51792 to Josef MĂ¼ller had been done before, but somehow it did not make it into HH's description.

The interesting thing is, there are 2 each small and large GPB's with this number out there. Would make a nice set of 4 like John's 95028 !

Thought you had to pay the extra 9.5% for transportation and EU import duties on top of the 23 % ?

Very nice low numbered GPB Mil, congratulations and good luck with the further research. I also only acquired a single large Deschler badge.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but, what is the lowest number GPB that you own and have seen (except for #1)?

I won the Fuess-marked piece #48721. I noticed that it wasn't ID'd on the HH auction so I thought I'd give it a shot, since I had it ID'd on my list. But it was obviously ID'd on a number of other lists, as well...and I paid the price for that! Can't wait for it to arrive!

Really nice pics Mil and the enamel looks flawless and again a real screamer. I think that it's also a real bonus when the badge belonged to a Blood Order holder.

                                James,

Congrats my friend on your winning bid for one of John's treasures!
