James, I took a photocopy out of Cone's book and I hope it is legible. He states that the wheat stalks should be silver....Less than 3k produced. A very rare badge. I beleive there is a thread on this allready. Do we take Cone's book as the gospel?? Your wheat stalks appear to be gold. I hope this helps. Have a good one Robert

Here's a link to the earler thread http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...hlight=N.S.A.D Yours look very similar to mine, the only difference I see is that mine is a slight off white like the DRK oval badges, whereas yours looks pure white in the photo.

        Cheers

There's a new generation of fakes of this badge that have recently surfaced. The new repros are RZM'ed on the back. Manions usually has a few for sale (not necessarily in the repro section ).

Here are my pair, sorry for the poor quality pic, snapped them off at dusk just now.

As mentioned before, the white on them is more an ivory.

                Cheers

Reverse. The right hand one is just dirty which is why the mark looks different, they are both exactly the same.

Don In my humbnle opinion, both of yours look good to me. James', on the other hand..... only my opinion though. There shouldn't be a lot of these floating around since they are so rare. I like Yancy, have been in search for one for quite awhile. Have a good one Robert

My only small concern with Nimble1's is the line were the shovel handle joins the shovel head, I would expect it to be continuous. Other than that, if the colour is off white/ivory & the wheat stalks are silver not gold it looks OK.

                      Cheers

I saw 4 of these on a market stall at the weekend, the guy sold replica guns, knives,SS badges etc.At least he wasn't trying to pass them off as original, price I think was £5 each

Yes, fakes these are commonly seen at markets here in the UK, but once you have held an original one there is no comparison. Attached is a picture of the common fake seen in the UK. I'm sorry for the poor quality of the image but I refuse to buy one just to get a decent picture of it . Look closely & you will see that the join between the shovel head & handle is separate. There are other differences which I will not go into here

                          Cheers

Finally had time to get better pictures of the badge that shows the colour better.

                            Cheers

Reverse. Again, build up of grime on the right hand badge, the markings have the same good detail.
