Excellent thread!
IMO the badge color corresponding to the button color is unlikely. However, the idea that the badge color could signify first time attendees, or, for that matter, individuals belonging to an NS organization vs. those not, for example, is certainly a possibility.

One type being presented to NSDAP members and another to non-members in order to readily distinguish between adherents and the uncommitted would make perfect sense.

Sorry, forgot to answer your question Gaston: the contention for the existence of a gold version of pinback comes from Detlev's catalogue listing it on page 311.
I know I asked but think it was drowned among other posts- does anyone know if the 1929 Rally was hosting any competitions (kampfspiele) in its repertoire?
