A little OT but, which Deschler maker mark is more common "DESCHLER U SOHN MUNCHEN" or "DESCHLER & SOHN MUNCHEN"?

Here is an example of the "unmarked" badge, other than those two strange striations within the cupped reverse of the rim.

When compared side by side to the Deschler marked example, the difference in detail design is actually quite striking.

      Regards,

      David

I'm sure that the unmarked one is fine but for me, I only like the Deschler marked badge.

                Dear Erich

Thankyou as always for your comments.

I am absolutely sure however that both the badges that I have posted are original examples. In basic form the same, although by detail, quite different in many ways.

                Regards,

                David

Hi David, for me it's just a matter of preference.

Iam totally impressed by this thread created by serious and dedacated collectors. even tho i never owned this badge ,the sheer quantity available by diferent makers tends me to believe that it was a semi mass produced high quality tinny available to the general public in munich only for a price above the average tinny, so the mass production was not as great as the average tinny.Erichs presentation presents a wonderful oppertunity to specialize in collecting this great looking badge. the striking diferences make you almost have to collect variants. very interesting gentlemen, thanks, Carl

Has anyone ever seen a gold variation? When I was home last DEC, an elderly woman brought one by a shop I frequent that appears to be gold plated with the pin missing. She was undecided whether she wanted to sell it. I am still waiting on an update.

                        David-
That is known as the curved or if you will rounded three version....note the shapes of the tops of the "3"s,
@Logggie, I have never seen a gold plated version but that does not mean the were not made during the era...the piece would have to be examined for further analysis.

                        John

Dear John, indeed and I fully agree. I think that for instant obverse recognition, the differing style of font to the date is clear. The other differences to include the proportions of the swastika, lay and style of the oak leaf wreath etc., are more subtle. Nevertheless, differences they are.

A "golden" version though? Nothing would surprise me with this badge!

                          Regards,

                          David

I have just returned home from abroad and asked today if I could see the gold variation. Since DEC, some additional items came in from the same man and are part of a grouping. The grouping is currently on hold pending a possible trade for some rare photos. I was told I could see the items next week and will try to get some photos. Should be interesting because the grouping includes some sort of document signed by a Gauleiter and Der Stürmer associated document. More to follow.

I saw a golden version of this badge at a collector friend. I try to get some pictures when i see him again. Nevertheless i have a silver version of this badge. The silver version comes together with a normal bronze version and i was told that they come from the same household.

Nice Alex, I have seen a few in silver but I never knew their purpose as opposed to the bronze badges.
