Fellow member Jamie (jscott) and I were looking at some minor variations in the Gau Munich badge. Perhaps you can take a look at your GM and let us know if it has any of these attributes and even post pictures. We hope to discern how truly rare these are and Jaime can update his GM article on Mike Pinkus' website.
First up on the list is a variation on the swaztika that looks like 2 swaztikas (one on top of each other) that are not exactly parallel and are slightly off kilter or 'separated'. Giving the impression that the swastika is 'moving'. Two extreme examples are known (one extreme is shown, the other example is a standard 1 swastika model) but other examples with varying degrees of 'separation' have been identified.
Second, is what looks to be a maker's mark seen on some of the Deschler & Sohn marked badges (see photo for mark's site). Actually, when present, only a portion of the mark is visible (see examples) and never in its entirety except for one recent example (or at least it appears almost complete). The most important question would be (1) do other complete or more complete examples exist; (2) is this a known mark for a manufacturer or actually for anything? (3) does such a mark signify or mean anything special?
The remaining attributes should be self explanatory as shown on the attached photo. Feel free to ask questions and we look forward to your responses.
