1. Library book from Adolf Hitler's library at the Berghof.
Although this was probably originally stored in the Berghof, it was likely discovered along with many others boxed up in (I think) a salt mine in the area. The vast majority of these now reside in the Library of Congress. For anyone interested in this area, I strongly recommend "Hitler's Private Library: The Books That Shaped His Life" by Timothy Ryback.

There are one or two pencil lines in the book, made either by Hitler or an aide etc.

Very focused collection of interest. I wonder what the title of that book is...I know it may be very boring,as he got so many books as gifts- but you never know.

Some day I will get to compare the serial numbers under my pieces with others in the 45th Infantry Division - which will hopefully confirm their provenance. They came originally from the collection of Gordon Hengar who, as I understand, was one of the most respected collectors in his time. So I'm pretty confident they are good. Either way, they are beautiful items to own...and I can live with that.

I will be listing some of the silverware soon as I don't need all of it. 

Yes, I've seen those ashtrays. I'm sure at one time they were all legit but given how good the fakers have become - especially in this area of collecting - I'm just not sure I'd feel 100% comfortable owning one.

I think I have spoken to you before on these, not something I can claim expertise on but they are really nice and the names associated with them is a good rule of thumb from what I can see with the market.

Hey Kris, yes we did - and they're on your website I believe.

Yeah, the fact that both these guys are associated with the pieces is about as good as I can expect to get - aside from a direct veteran purchase. A lot of the early collectors went through the 101st/3rd ID rosters many years ago and flushed out a lot of juicy items, and I guess these are just one example.

Kris - feel free to post pictures here of the Goering pieces. I for one would love to see them, and this topic would be a fitting home for them. 

And, yes, if you would ask around that would be great. I made contact with the 45th Infantry Division, which has one or two Dragon pieces. But they only open their display cases once a year and I don't think they're very keen to engage with that line of enquiry. Which I can sympathise with - to a non-collector it must seem slightly sinister. 

As soon as I can get serial numbers from a 100% legit piece, I think Meissen should be able to help verify mine.  They are normally very helpful.
