Further to my first posting on this thread, the major 1941 shift to Roman lettering as an official position throughout the TR would have been a major boon to the enamel sign-making industry! Understanding that most signage would probably have been in the German Gothic style with Sütterlin used to a lesser degree, here was an opportunity to cash in on re-making all of the street signs, marquees and other public notices all across the country! What a money-maker that must have been!

Hello guys, what's about this one? It was accidentally found in the ground in East Prussia area. The only strange thing is first letter which looks like U not A. Udolf? I don't have any idea what is going on.

That is an A at the start of the lettering. It is Fraktur print.

Thank You very much Richard, I'm not familiar with German militaria. It's not my cup of tea.

The only original German street sign of that period that I would believe in is above the bar in the 21 Club in NYC. I met the man who brought it back when I had dinner there with my dad in 1965. "Unter der Linden".
Street names that are made up of a persons name use hyphens, none person street names do not. Therefore:-

Adolf-Hitler-Straße, Adolf-Hitler-Platz are correct but not Adolf Hitler Straße

Unter der Linden is correct but not Unter-der-Linden

                      Erick, good find!
I spent hours searching the net for a period street sign with the double "S" but had no luck.

                        Hello Brett,

Thanks, another image of an example without the hyphen.

The two signs shown that do not include the hypens are non German made signs.
