Political leader uniforms are even more confusing than the SA. The collar tabs indicate position, and the tab color and piping color corresponds with the political level. This fellow would be a ZELLENLEITER (Cell leader) at the Ortsgruppe Level. The reason the collar tab braid is GOLD is because it's the 3rd pattern insignia. The 2nd pattern insignia for this position and level WAS silver then. 2 silver bars WERE used in the 3rd pattern scheme, but it indicated a different position. In fairness to whomever suggested the tabs may have been replaced - that IS true more often than not. The fact that it still has the Ortsgruppe blue collar piping, is a GOOD sign, as the collar piping is frequently missing.

        Armband

The armband looks very odd. I've seen plenty of Bevo armbands, but this one doesn't look right for some reason

The stitching looks to be all original to me. Don't see any indication that it has been messed with. Here are some photos.

As I have stated, the collar piping as mint, the collar tab piping is old and worn, how?

I hope this link comes up for you guys, but this is the identical Political Ortsgruppe shirt. As you can see there is a big difference in color between the collar piping and collar tabs on these shirts. Also, my collar piping has some minute wear that the camera does not pick up. Its not mint! There is no visual evidence that these collars tabs were ever removed on mine.

The collar piping, IMO, is the type of rayon piping that is currently sold in fabric stores--it's looser and woven differently than the period piping.

I'll leave you with it, if your happy I'm happy.
Tbe piping on that shirt is nothing like yours in age appearance.

After seeing the newest photos, I have to agree with Luftwaffe Blue - not so much the wear, but the fact that the collar tab piping is VERY soiled, without so much as a speck on the collar. They HAVE to have been replaced. I rarely disagree with Erich, but I've seen this type of collar piping on Political Leader brownshirts before - in fact, I've seen this type more often than I've seen the type that's on the tabs. I can see why people think this is a modern material, because it has a sheen, and looks peculiar when compared with most period piping. I also remember it being VERY soft, and smooth to the touch. I'm pretty sure the collar piping is OK. Whatever you do, don't go ripping the collar piping off the shirt before getting more expert opinions. The armband looks completely fake.
