A folkish chair, something I think the DHW would have sold. Not sure of the origin of the pic but I doubt I could get in trouble for showing a picture of a now defunct Nazi organisation for non-profit intellectual research purposes such as this?

This chair looks like something sold in Pennsylvania Dutch country.

The pictured piece is from DHW but for sure, folk styles and traditions travelled to the 'New' country from Europe. I bet there are many similar types of folk art there. I bought a freshly made simple Amish chest when I lived in the US.

OK sorry, I misunderstood... .I thought you were adding some interesting information because probably some people may not realise that what you said is actually true, the bit about very similar folk art existing there because the folk art style travelled from Europe to the USA, at least in the minds of the people if not some artifacts, and they continued their crafts.

Another example of wood carving................... Till Eulenspiegel, in the style of the Moriskentaenzer.


It stands about 45cm high and is beautifully hand carved from an oak-like wood.


He now 'stands guard' in my hallway.


No idea of the date of the carving .................. could well be post-'45. But Eulenspiegel and the Moriskentaenzer were also 'done' by Allach, so who knows ??

This Meissen model of Eulenspiegel was originally created during the Third Reich, and continued to be produced into the 1970s.
