More bogus attributions in the same auction.

    Comment

A generic attribution that makes no mention of the alledged Hitler attributed awards being auctioned off. Most if not all of Hitlers positions that were retained by Frau Winter were auctioned off in a special auction in Germany on the 2nd of April 1971 after her death. My 1935 gold RPT plaque was part of that auction and no attribution letter from Frau Winter accompanied it.

Again, anyone bidding on the pictured CB should only be bidding on the badge itself which as already mentioned is original.

Wholeheartedly agree with you ErichS - The badge and not the paper for this one. It is a very nice first pattern. They don't come by easy nowadays.

For anyone interested, there is a great article on Sister Pia in the current issue of The Military Adviser by member Jeff Hanson with some nice photos of her wearing both her CB and BO.

Thank you Erich - Unfortunately I don't subscribe to the magazine. Any interesting information worth discussing about Sister Pia?

Mil, you can order back copies and they get sent out very quickly, I would suggest this one is a copy you might like. I have a subscription ,its worth the money IMO.
Yes I found the article excellent and there are some interesting little bits Jeff talks about that I was not aware of.

                  Hi Mil,

I couldn't agree more heartily with Erich; a subscription to "Military Advisor" is well worth the money! My copy of the latest issue arrived a few days ago but I haven't had the chance to read through it yet...but I certainly will! Jeff is a regular contributor and the back issues contain wonderful articles that I know you would enjoy.

                  Cheers,

                  Br. James

I thought it was pretty interesting and the bibliography gives some possibilities for additional research.

                        Thank you guys.

I was hoping that they might have an online subscription to view on my tablet, etc. as I'm not a fan of keeping old magazines (I used to subscribe to magazines in the past). I also worry about the overseas postage costs adding up to the overall subscription which is why I've stayed clear. Perhaps I might just ask for the old copies of Military Advisor. Here in the UK, we have the Armourer magazine which Jamie Cross often contributes.

... and just wondering if anyone is making a bid for the next HH auction for the Coburg Badge? it is a lovely piece and has all the markings of a textbook 1st pattern - a real classic. I am tempted! What are your thoughts, guys?

Here it is if you missed it:Lot Nr. 6263 // Adolf Hitler - a Coburg Badge 1932

Badge for the participants of the "Deutsche Tag" (German Day) on October 14/15th 1922 from among the SA. Convex, stamped in bronze, the thin needle system has remained intact. Light signs wear and traces of oxidation. Height 55.4 mm. Width 39 mm. Weight 21 g.
The Coburg Badge belonged to the highest decorations of the NSDAP. Between 422 and 436 "alte Kämpfer" (old fighters) received this badge. Later the party decoration was also awarded in an honorary way. Up to February 1938 there were 418 honorary bearers of the badge, like for example the once Count Carl Eduard. Comes with the written confirmation by Anny Brunner-Winter, Hitler's housekeeper in his Munich flat at Prinzregentenplatz 16 from 1929 to 1945, stating that the badge originated from Hitler's personal possessions, dat. "17.XI.1968" (Nov. 17th, 1968). Starting - 5000Euros

Its less than $50 inc postage to the UK for an annual subscription, all the work that the contributors put in to the articles ,production and getting it through my door on a wet and windy February day, I don't begrudge a cent of that.

                              Mil,
You do not needed to be tempted. You are already on the top of the "Coburg" food chain.

                                Thank you, Chen.

The CB area seems slow these days. Nothing much turning up.
