I posted this in the Political Awards section and I think it belongs here as well. The Coburg Badge IMO was as important as the BO but much more rare. Here are some interesting photos for you fans of the award. The first is my 1st type of the award.

Now that window is a life size Coburg Badge!!!!
I still can't figure out why a KC would be worth more than a Coburg Badge. Since the KC was produced in much higher numbers compared to the Coburg badge th eonly factor that I can reason is that the KC was awarded for combat and the Coburg badge for a street action.
Without the action the Coburg badge represents there would not be common KC's that always seem to be available for the asking.
Either the first or second type if your lucky to have one in your collection smile

I agree with you Rich regarding KC's. Military pieces have always been more popular with collectors than Political pieces. The prices on these 1st type badges are high but not as high as a KC. About 8000 kC's awarded Vs. 436 Coburg Badges. If the small DAP would have been defeated at the Battle of Coburg there would have no longer been a Party or a Putsch and never possibly a War. So as far as importance this badge is high on the list!

Here are a couple of photos of my first type Coburg badge. This is the one that is pictured in Detlev's books--used to be part of the Wolfe-Hardin collection.
Rarity doesn't always equate to price point--despite the rarity of the Coburg badge, many collectors don't realize the significance of the piece or how few were awarded. Plus, that 'political stuff' doesn't have the same draw as an RK.
