I have no explanation for the tabs being on this tunic if indeed they are gold or yellow piped. Are you sure they are not badly faded out blue piped? I doubt they are because the blue tunic piping looks newer.
I know they have been putting things together for GI’s since the war ended to sell as souvenirs.
I know several guys today that can apply tabs to look period, so just because they look period applied, does not make them so.
So, if they are gilt/gold/yellow piped as you say, then they are not correct for this tunic.
Twisted cord piping was only used early on (circa 33-34) and was seldom seen and used after that. Angolia’s Cloth Insignia of the NSDAP and SA shows this tab on page 35 in the upper right hand corner. He identifies it as an Orts level tab with twisted piping. (It looks a lot like the tabs on your tunic, but you can’t tell because he does not use color on the image.)
