Never mind the Blitzkrieg, watch out for Hofer's teeth!

BTW, I would like to credit Marc Costa for the pic of Ley w/ the Volksturm armband, the pics of Greise and Schwede, and the Reichsleiters at the Wolfschanze.

A common pic, but it shows that v. Schirach continued to wear his HJ High-Leader's visor with the HJ diamond replaced by a PL wreath. (The band is black velvet):

Sorry but could this be a "Mantel" with his awards on his shoulder ???

This photo of Hofer shows him lying down firing the rifle with his overcoat thrown over his shoulders. The badges are political "tinnies". There is another photo of him standing wearing the overcoat in the Arndt publication on the Austrian takeover.

This appears to be a transitional einsatz u. dienst uniform--note the exposed pebbled buttons and the darker color:

That's a great color photo above of Hitler, Gauleiter August Eigruber of Gau Upper Danube, and a very weary looking Martin Bormann.

Although just illustrations, Pierre Turner's artwork was the first to bring these uniforms "to life" for me back in the days when all the reference books were in B&W:
