    GPB determination

Great thread and very interesting. The MOST interesting thing though is that the Gold Party Badge is considered a fake. Is that the final determination then, and what does Mr. Coleman have to say about it? Does he now aknowledge it as a fake and if so, at what moment did he realize it? I am doubting that Rabbi Maurice is offering any money back but why wasn't it more closely examined upon receipt, and especially by such a respected collector? If it indeed is bogus, does this mean that new as well as savvy collectors are regularly getting duped out there?

    Your thoughts Mr. Coleman?

Bob Colman is a great guy with a great collection. That being said, the GPB is indeed a fake.

Wow if the GPB is a fake than that could be just the tip of the iceberg. All you need is a fountain pen and some pictures a steady hand. I have been looking at Mr. Coleman's posts for a long time and consider him to be an expert I refuse to believe that he wold make a mistake on such a simple thing as a GPB. This is probably an early version of the badge or a private purchase.

The GPB has been discussed and was found Bad.

It's still a superb, amazing, stunning group!

I thought the consensus several months ago was that it was a parts GPB. Stephen considered the wreath base to be original and proposed a very logical scenario of the enameled center being removed and replaced by an available reproduction center. Given the immediate post war feelings towards items carrying swastikas, I can imagine the family taking the center piece off for protection. Nothing else in that grouping carried a prominent swastika. Those on the small ribbon bar are scarcely visible to the naked eye compared to the black swaz on white of the GPB.

Joe ,all that could and probably is true, but IMO, the GPB in question, parts or otherwise is not right and therefore a fake.

I guess it would be best to pop out the enameled center and have an original base.

                    I'd see it slightly different:

I guess it would be best to pop out the enameled center and find a replacement center to joint with an original base.

                      Hello...

                      Mr. Coleman...hello...are you out there...hello?

Can one of Mr. Coleman's friends please PM him and have him weigh in on this situation? We got so many wonderful details on this grouping and history of Maurice when this thread was new, but nothing since the authenticity of the GPB came into question. It seems so many of us have questions that only he has the answers to, and we are looking forward to hearing his side of this still developing story.

I think that would be the next logical step from my comment. Better to have a restored original piece.

Westhebartender, I don't think Mr. Coleman owes us the time of day. He was good enough to share his material with us. This isn't a trial and he is under no obligation to answer anything. The small GPB has been discussed and opined to be an original base with a new replacement enamel center. What else seems to be a "developing story" in your opinion.

From what I heard Bob has been under the weather.

Agree with Joe! Having spoken briefly with Bob at the SOS, I seriously doubt we will be hearing from him on this subject.

The handwritting signature of "Mein Kampf " looks like as a Konrad Kujau fake! Please compare it with original signatures from Hitler at this time !!!!

I dont like the the handwritting in the books, also not the mulit signed books with the many signature of Hess,Göring and other !
