      A field tunic

This jacket has not been looked after as well as the previous one but is a nice example, if somewhat rough, of a working jacket.

For Soldon the city is TRIESCH in Moravia not Triest in Italy.

            Soldon,

Your tunic is not a standard late war 1944 tunic. The interior is what one would expect of such a late war tunic but the cut is not. It seems to have a two piece back with a top and a bottom instead of two sides as is normal. It does not have brown cuffs or slit button cuffs, which would be expected with a 1944 tunic, from what I can see. It also has slash lower pockets instead of patch pockets.

I suspect that your tunic may have been a rework for the postwar German police and that the eagle and medal ribbon may have been added later.

Took a chance on this one from HH, checked it out and there have not been any other collar patches on this no other stitch marks at all. Black collar patches for vet

                    Hello,
I see that there are schutzpolizei tunics with sleeve eagles color green and others color white or silver. Why? Which is the difference?
Also, why some tunics have brown cuffs and the schutzpolizei combat tunics no?
The tunics with brown cuffs were only for officers and NCO?
                    Thanks to all.
                    Daniele

To quickly answer your questions, GREEN was the branch color for SchuPo so their sleeve eagles were green. Late in the war a gray machine woven eagle was introduced to be used by all of the different green uniform wearing branches of the police for the remainder of the war. That is the gray eagle you see on M43 and M44 "combat" tunics sometimes. Brown cuffed M36 tunics always had green eagles.

The M1936 police uniform specified brown cuffs and collar for the SchuPo, to differentiate them from the army. A field tunic without brown was introduced for use away from the German public view such as in occupied areas and when assigned to the military. All ranks wore the brown cuffs and collar when on police duty in Germany except in rural areas and away from public view.
