RAD uniforms

He would never send me additional photos of the inside lineing,stitching etc,just assureing me its all original etc.There are 2 other things that i noticed when you posted pics that make me lean toward a restored tunic,the firsts is it looks like a russian captured equipment stamp on the liner (all i have seen have been stripped of insignia) and the other looks like a abteilung issue stamp from abteilung 3/157.

was there a difference on the sleeve patches for different ranks? is the silver woven one officer grade? what sleeve patches did 'Generals' of the RAD have? Cheers, Torsten.

nice stuff guys!Kirby that is definately something you dont see every day thanks for posting it.

as for the shields yours is a very nice officers unit shield,EM's and NCO's would have worn white shields and generals would have had gold shields.

sorry i have no Generals shield to show but i know other forum members have them so ill leave it up to them if they want to post or not.honestly i have only handled a few sets of RAD generals insignia and a few (3) generals uniforms and for the price they sell for my knowledge of the subject isnt enought for me to take a chance buying any.

Something RAD or they appear to be RAD per the B. Davis publication? These are really not my "thing" although I couldn't resist acquiring them for a good fondle since they are similar to the police in design. Are they common? Thanks.

those are unterfeldmeister (Warrent officer) boards,they are fairly common ($25-$40 depending on condition etc.),i usually see a ton of loose RAD insignia at local shows and ebay.de has a few sets of boards for sale every week.anyone else have any uniform/uniform accessories to post or questions /comments?

RAD tunic / restoration with foung parts

hello rad collectors,

i got this tunic just recently.

the unit spade is the one that came in masses some time ago and is
probably not original to the uniform.
i currrently look for insignia to make it complete.

a nice cirsumstance is that i go metal detecting in a former lager and
occasionally find parts i can use.

i will keep you informed on the progress of restoration.

i was looking at my RAD PK photos for another thread and came across this one of a arbeitsmann getting issued gear by a unterfeldmeister,it looks like hes takeing time to make sure the kids uniform actually fits!
